About This Office
The Johnson County Legal Department is comprised of 10 attorneys, 1 paralegal, 2 legal secretaries and 1 office manager. The legal staff works closely with the Chief Counsel to the Board of County Commissioners, who is a member of the BOCC Department. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except for county holidays.
The Johnson County Legal Department represents Johnson County and its officials. The Legal Department handles all lawsuits brought by and against the County; represents the County at administrative hearings; drafts and reviews resolutions, contracts, bonds and other written instruments; provides advice and renders legal opinions upon request to the Board of County Commissioners, County Manager and other county officials.
